Ideally yes. This is because the clean will removed all plaque and Tatar from your teeth as well as staining, ensuring a clean slate for the best whitening outcome.

The check up will ensure you do not have active decay nor gum disease and that you are a candidate for teeth whitening.

Any reason i cant whiten my teeth?

Yes if you have any of the following you are not recommended to have your teeth whitened;
 
Active tooth decay
Active gum disease
Braces or Invisalign attachments
Crowns/veneers/large fillings in front teeth
Allergies to any of the ingredients
Pregnant or lactating women
Under the age of 16

Is teeth whitening sensitive?

In most cases, patients experience little to no sensitivity. However, if you do experience sensitivity, it’s usually mild. Rarely, some may experience extreme sensitivity including zingers. If you’ve had sensitivity during teeth whitening before, just let me know, and I’ll customise the treatment to your needs.

Beauticians and dental nurses typically use over the counter whitening gels, which are much less effective and require multiple treatments to achieve results. As a registered dental hygienist, I offer professional grade, high strength whitening gels (35% hydrogen peroxide) in a single appointment. We also ensure your gums are protected from chemical burns with a carefully applied barrier, something beauticians and dental nurses are not licensed to do.

What should I do if I experience sensitivity?

Get in contact with me and use any of the below options;

Calm and Soothe Gel 2 x daily — Apply it to your teeth and leave it for 30 			minutes before eating, drinking or rinsing.

Tooth Mousse 2 x daily — Apply it to your teeth and leave for 30 minutes before eating, drinking or rinsing.

Colgate Sensitive or Sensodyne toothpaste 2 x daily — Apply to the teeth and leave for 30 minutes before eating, drinking or rinsing.

I’m a AHPRA registered dental hygienist with extensive experience in preventive dental care, including teeth whitening. While dentists often delegate teeth whitening to their hygienists, I specialise in this area, delivering professional care without the clinical setting or overheads.

Will my teeth relapse in colour after the whitening process?

This is a natural occurrence as teeth whitening is a cosmetic procedure and like your hair appointment appointment, the ritual requires up keep and continuation to maintain the results.

Naturally when you consume pigmented foods or drinks (like coffee, red wine, or green juices etc) after your treatment the teeth will relapse in colour. However to get the best results, avoid these foods and drinks for the first 48 hours after treatment.

I also offer a home care kit with 16% whitening gel, an LED light, and Calm and Soothe Gel to really lock in your results, soothe any sensitivity and enhance the natural gloss of your teeth.

When do you recommend having another treatment?

Once you have achieved your new baseline colour with the initial teeth whitening process it is important to upkeep at home with your home whitening ritual. To gain the same results again as originally, we recommend returning in 6-12 months or when you have an important event coming up and you want to re brighten your smile. For this we offer a top up service.

How long do my results last for?

Results last for about 3-6 months depending on diet and lifestyle. Your after care kit will help you maintain for results for as long as possible until your next in chair treatment.

This is something I can not predict as everyone's teeth are different, the companies that predict x amount of shade lighter are doing you a disservice.
